TRAINING

Take a new look at an old proverb with us. We have all heard, “Give someone a fish and feed them for a day. Teach someone to fish and feed them for a lifetime.” We agree, but we don’t see any reason to stop there. Here is the OneStage version. “Teach someone to teach fishing and you feed generations to come.” This is where we get our logo statement, “we develop leaders who develop leaders who develop leaders.”

The secret to OneStage’s method of training is simple. We skip a step! From day one we teach students to “teach fishing,” giving them hands-on experience leading their peers and developing other leaders. In addition to creating what we like to call an “Unstoppable and Sustainable Leader Development Movement,” this formula saves time and energy and is the most effective approach for student learning and retention.

LIVE MUSIC EVENTS FEATURING STUDENTS

  • Performances in the Nashville area give students short term goals to work toward, opportunities to be affirmed, and a quick payoff for their work.

  • Preparation builds strong work habits and self-confidence.

  • Performances build community pride and a sense of unity.

  • Performances allow us to include a large number of students on stage and behind the scenes.

*Tennessee Community Colleges and Technical Schools are tuition free. We help our students plan futures that always includes higher education at some level.

MENTORING BY MUSIC INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS

  • The opportunity to be mentored by a professional from Nashville’s entertainment industry is a huge draw for students.

  • Mentors serve as role models, providing an example of hard work and excellence.

  • Mentoring helps students and mentors use their available rehearsal time effectively, creating top caliber, entertaining, rewarding performances.

  • A majority of teens report that they have 0-1 adults they feel they can talk to. We give them at least one.

  • The mentoring program gives members of Nashville’s entertainment industry an opportunity to give back and honor those who mentored them. This creates substantial community engagement.

  • As students are impacted and inspired by their mentors they develop a vision for how they can become mentors who have a significant impact on the next generation.
